Grouplove + Bully at House of Blues Anaheim

March 6th, 2024

Grouplove

Grouplove came to Anaheim on March 6th for their Rock and Roll You Won’t Save Me tour. Pulling from their lengthy discography, they took the stage opening with “Close Your Eyes and Count to Ten,” a crowd favorite. The acoustic intro paired with a subtle harmony singing “Can you believe it we’re really here,” captured the audience's anticipation. Bouncing as the band comes in, the room ignited in communal excitement.

Currently on tour with Grouplove and opening the show was singer-songwriter, Bully. Originally a full band, singer Alicia Bognanno played her mix of grungy riffs and emotive vocals stripped down as she was performing alone. Toward the end of her set she switched to piano, showcasing the power of her songwriting and musicianship. The natural grit in her voice gives the listener no choice but to feel and believe every word she says.

As a live band, Grouplove is catchy, lively, and just plain fun. They combine the infectious energy of 2010's indie pop with the timeless appeal of more classic acts such as ABBA. Their infectious hooks and vibrant instrumentation leave the concert goer humming their melodies long after the show has ended.
